Dr Mike Gow is currently Senior Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham's China Policy Institute where he is working on projects related to China's football industry with Professor Jon Sullivan (Nottingham) and Professor Simon Chadwick (Salford). These are part of wider research conducted by Nottingham's China Soccer Observatory.
He has previously held position Lecturer in Humanities and Social Sciences (2016-2018) at the XJTLU School of Film and Television Arts (formerly Department of English, Culture and Communication), and was Inaugural Global Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Shanghai (2013-2015), the first Sino-American Joint Venture University established in the People's Republic of China.
Mike has held teaching positions at Fudan-Boston Program (Fudan University), Ecole Superieur Sciences Commercials des Angers (ESSCA) and the University of Huddersfield (Sino-British College)

Mike received his PhD from the Centre of East Asian Studies, University of Bristol, UK where he held a full Masters and PhD 5 year scholarship from the British Inter University China Centre (BICC), a collaboration between the Universities of Bristol, Manchester and Oxford.
He holds a BA (Hons) International Business from Nottingham Trent University (1st Class Honours) and an MSc with Distinction in East Asian Studies from the University of Bristol.
